THE HEAVEN OF VEGETABLES.. (part 1)

As mentioned before, I live in a small town called Kundasang. For me, this town is a heaven of vegetables and one of the most popular vacation spots in Sabah. There are many reasons why you should bring your family for vacation here.

Where is Kundasang...?

Kundasang is located within the Ranau district which is about 95 kilometres from Sabah capital city, Kota Kinabalu. You can either take a bus with payment in Ringgit Malaysia, for about RM 15 - RM 16 or a Taxi, (RM 50 and above). Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that you can also rent cars or vans if you want to drive by yourselves.

About 30 Kilometres from Kundasang, you can feel the cold breeze because it is located at the highest area in Sabah. If you are lucky, you may get the chance to see the main attraction of Sabah, Mount Kinabalu. It always covered with cloud.

( Along the way to Kundasang from Ranau town)

(Mount Kinabalu...as viewed from the road from KK to Kundasang...20 Kilometres to go)

Kundasang is a bit similar to Cameron Highland in Peninsular Malaysia because both are located in high land and the normal temperature is 15 - 17 degree. For a tropical country like Malaysia, it is cold enough and that explains why these places are good for vegetables and fruit plantation.

...and here we are...the beautiful Kundasang...

Want some more? Nah...ambik...

(One of the villages)

Kundasang is surrounded by many small villages and some of these photos were taken from different
location around Kundasang. Most of them photos copied from internet. Later, I'll come up with photos taken by myself to prove that I really live in this place... :-)

For those who want to visit Kundasang, it may be not enough if you only spend 1 day. You will not be satisfied as there are too many interesting places around Kundasang. Not to mention the others near Ranau town. At least, it will take about 4-5 days to complete your journey in Kundasang. It is easily for you to find chalets or resthouses and if you want to spend little for your accommodation, you can always pick one village and look for "Homestay" sign. Homestay program is a program where the villagers will provide a room or a house for tourist near their house. The rents are very cheap and can reach about RM30 - RM75 per night or RM100-RM150 for the whole house. The tourist can get the chance to see the traditional lifesytles of the villagers while visiting some interesting places in Kundasang.

There are too many resorts and chalets here and one of the most interesting and beautiful is...
the Pine Resort.

This is the main entrance to the resort. As you can see, there are many pine trees around it and the resort entrance is very beautiful when it been surrounded by the mist just like in the movie Twilight. I think some scenes were shots here...hahaha...just kidding... :p

Some of the view inside the resort.

There are many others such as the PERKASA HOTEL which is 5 storeys high and graded as 3 stars but most of the tourist from other countries prefer the homestay and the other cheap ones because they want to experience the village life. You can browse the net for more information about the hotel and chalets. The word "Kundasang" will give you enough information about this place.

I think that's it for now. For the next entry, I will talk about the interesting places around Kundasang that you must visit...It's a MUST...remember that... :-)

To be continue...
